Here is all the info you'll need to have a great time at Summer Music Programs! This page is for you, the musician; there is another one for your parents. There's also a checklist so you won't forget anything; but, if you have any questions, give us a call at 610 526 6114. If you haven't done so already, please fill out the questionnaire as soon as possible so we can put you in the right group. THE MUSIC - We started Summer Music Programs to offer young musicians the chance to play the music they like. So learn as many songs as you can, find the sheet music and tablature for the music you want to play. If you take lessons ask your teacher to go over the topics that will help you get ready: chords, scales, note reading, rhythms etc. If you don't have a teacher and need one, just let us know. We give private lessons year round and can help get you ready. We would also like to encourage you to be open minded about other musical styles and original material. Rehearsals will be Monday through Wednesdays. Thursdays and Fridays will be for the studio and concerts. YOUR INSTRUMENT - There's nothing worse than trying to play but your instrument isn't working right. Even if you think it's working fine we strongly recommend that you have your instrument professionally inspected. You'd be surprised how many times something's wrong and you don't know it. We've made a special arrangement with our friends at Medley Music here in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania to offer a free professional inspection of your instrument. They have the best technicians in the business and they'll let you know if your instrument or your equipment needs work. YOUR GEAR - We strongly recommend you label everything you bring with your name, even your song books, CD's, tapes and instrument cases. Bring extra batteries, guitar cords, strings, picks, sticks, reeds etc. (see the checklist.) A small boombox-type cd/cassette player with built in condenser mic is also very useful for recording songs to learn and parts played by others in your band. OTHER MUSICIANS - Remember, you'll be playing with other musicians. You'll need to communicate, compromise and work together - teamwork! |
